Ludwig Supraphonic Transition Badge Last viewed: 56 seconds ago

Hey guys,

I've got the chance to buy the snare in the following link (pictures on bottom of the page):

muziek.marktplaats.nl/.../439537926-ludwig-aluminium-snare-drum.html

It's in dutch, so you probably won't understand it, but it says it's an aluminium snare. Looks like a Supraphonic to me.

I can see it has a transition badge, but the hole behind it looks kind of iffy. I thought they only made brass snares in the trasition phase, but I might be wrong.

Anyway, I can get it for about 200 euros.

Any thoughts on what type, make and era snare this might actually be?

Thanks a lot.

Later model Supra (80's)?? with a glued on trans badge. The hoops, strainer, and the muffler indicate this. Also the chrome has been stripped.

Ok..the link isn't working for me,but from your decription ...RIP OFF.The transition badge would ONLY be on a Super Ludwig 400,Chrome over brass,or lacquered brass shell, crimped snare beds, with a small knob muffler. The Supraphonic when introduced was chrome over Ludaloy(aluminum alloy)with serial or preserial number Keystone badge as the model LM 400 5 1/2x14 or LM402 6 1/2x14.There are some COB drums with the red felt baseball bat mufflers, but a transition badge drum with an aluminun shell?Never heard of or seen one ever.
