Man, the prices that get quoted on here always boggle my mind. B/O 402s sell regularly in Portland for around $175-250. Heck, there's an Acrolite on VDF *trying* to sell for $200 (in Portland, they don't sell for more than $80 or so...). I just don't get it. I bought my B/O 402 for $125 from a shop. Great condition. I don't think of it as a $500 drum, or even a $300 drum for that matter. That. Just. Does. Not. Compute. Congrats, SGL1, on your purchase! That's a nice snare to have in your arsenal...

Yeah, here in Portland we might be slightly under the market value yet.

But I hardly ever see any 402's here on our CL, they usually get picked up super fast by those guys that live around Bull Mt., whose names I won't print here :)

Let me know the next time you find a 402 for $125 here in town, just would like to know that you scored that deal twice :)

Yes, I know probably two of the guys you are referring to. Craigslist vultures. You see an item, often times within the first three listings (very recently posted) for a cheap price and want to buy it, and "somebody" else has already called dibs. I ask the seller if it's one of several names, and they always say, "Yes!" Then, usually within a couple of days, that exact item is back on craigslist, with the price jacked up above the nonsense eBay prices. The "Big 6" I call them, because there are 6 of them spread from Bull Mt. all the way northeast to Camas. I've been tracking them for a couple of years now, watching them work...

While I do love CL some of the people on there are on Crack. They think they're retailers. They buy cheap WallyWorld crap and ask above retail or same for it. I deal in retail so kinda hard to slip something past me. Plus I've been in sales most of my life and just have a "gut" feeling what items are worth, even if not familiar. Might be psychotic or something.

What ticks me off is people that never respond to emails or calls but leave the item for sale for months. People are just brain dead.

Glad you and I are not one of them Caddy!

I know of 3 or 4 of the 6 you are talking about, dealt with them on a few

things in the years past from CL.

If your the St. Johns guy, then I've been over once for a rolling trap case

and something else a few years ago.

I've been out of the scene for at least a year, just started playing again

in a big band so I started perusing VDF and CL again, was looking for a

part for my ancient WFL snare since I'm using that kit for the big band.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread SG :)

I wanted to be "one of them" for a while, thinking that flipping would be fun, but CL in Portland has kind of dried up, and you can't sell things for reasonable prices anymore. Everything is so cheap, and lowballers abound. I have all but stopped listing things for sale and just hoard now. x-mas3

I know "the St. Johns guy"...he's super nice. I don't consider him one of The Big 6. There was another "St. Johns guy" who lives just a couple of blocks away from him, on the other side of Lombard, who seemed to be up and coming, but he has fizzled out. No, the Big 6 remain strong and relentless... :)

The Supraphonic is complete and has joined the Pearl family. Brand new Ambassador head and snares. Kept original catgut strings. Even found a classic Ludwig stand to put 'er on. Snappy & happy.

Just need to replace reso head (Pearl reso, old) and eventually top ring.

Great job on the Supra! The kit looks fantastic as well. Terrific score for sure. FYI...anyone out there that can find a 6.5x14 70's Supra out there NEAR this condition for the prices listed above, let me know! Will make it worth their while.

Thanks bro! The hoops and strainer were the worst thing as far as pitting and surface rust. I was able to get the rods even clean and the strainer is better. The hoops and strainer do need replacing if I want it near mint. Are those fairly standard or would I need to go directly to Ludwig to replace?

Can find them on eBay, or even post here in the wanted section. Many people here have what you may need.
