Ludwig suprahonic keystone snare- Need Opinions!

Loading...

Hey everyone!

So I'm looking into a vintage Ludwig Supraphonic Keystone badge snare drum. Pictures are attatched. Owner wants 275 for it. It has some pitting and some rust in a few spots here and there. How easy are these to clean up if they have pitting/rust? Are they much better than the Acrolites? Ludwig fanatics assemble!

*UPDATE* Decided not to go with the original drum. Found this gem on ebay instead! 150 bucks plus shipping! Ludwig Super Sensitive 1968 with case/stand. Snare throwoff has been switched with a Ludwig P-85, so it is basically a supraphonic now. Looks to be in pretty good shape!

its not a bad deal by any means. I sold one without the pitting for about the same price a few weeks ago. I had already detailed mine and added new heads though. cleanup isn't bad. just a disassembly and some soaking, cleaning and polishing. I think the supra and the acrolite sound good. the supra is a little more "poppy" with more crack to it.

Looks nice, just need some elbow grease & TLC

I had some which I bought in much worst condition, and then they looks (and sounds) great.

Keep in mind that pitting is not reversible process, you must live with it!!

Regarding price it´s not probably the deal of the month, but it´s a fair price and it will make you happy for sure!Clapping Happy2

Good Luck!

Just picked up a '76 Acrolite this past week and it's 100% original. I did put a newer batter on and I think it sounds better than my Keystone Supra. Probably just a fluke or just my ears playing tricks on me. I've had a B/0 badge Supra that sounded better than my current Keystone also...

Found it!!
