Ludwig Standard 5-pc in Lemon Strada off CL

Loading...

I bought a set of "68 - '74 Ludwig Lemon Strada Drums $125. This 5-pc set is really close to complete and original. Somewhere in it's life some one took off the front head and the lugs, retainers, and hoop seperated from the set, bummer. I'm in a cleaning mode with the set right now but I am looking for those parts, if ya got 'em shoot me a note.

p.s. Craigslist is da stuff!

Wow nice grab man! I also just picked up a set of standards a few days ago. I`m in a cleaning mode too. BTW, I have been reading about the "Cheap Ludwig hardware" on the standards? The hardware looks like good quality to me. IMO

Very nice set of gold, The hardware is "lighter" than the regular issue, although it's nice. My tom mount does not look as beefy as yours is. I'll shoot a pic up here when I get it cleaned up.

My tom mount has been replaced with the heaver style. Man I really like that lemon strata wrap. Kinda "sexy"

hawghunter,

What's involved in changing the tom holder mount? That seems like a good up-grade mod.

Well... I'm not so sure about that. Unless the drums are hacked up already... I played the living poo out of my kit when I was a kid and never had a problem with the mount. Yeah, it's lighter than the regular Ludwig mount, but still... Why hack up what looks like a fairly pristine kit? If you're worried about the mount failing, get more mounts.

It's your kit, and only my opinion, but still...

At this time I am not into any mod that requires drilling or changing the kit in any way, I'm trying to go back to all original if anything. I am having a clamp collar made to slip over the tom mount post to help support the weight.

fishwaltz, your Strata kit is sick, and to go out and find it after selling it is really lucky! Nice job! I am also looking at the hardware, it looks good with the era stands.

I am a giant fan of Standards. IMO, they are among the most underrated vintage drums out there, probably due to the fact that there seems to be a common misconception that they are nothing more than cheap Asian imports with a Ludwig badge.

I played, recorded, and gigged with a gold strata Standard kit for years. I got it in awesome condition, and when I sold it last year, it was basically in the same condition, ever after what I put it through. Now, I never had a tom mount on the bass with mine, but as for the rest of the hardware... I found it totally refreshing how light it made the kit, and personally, I have found that the chrome on the Standard hardware stands the test of time much better than on Classic hardware.
