Question for the esteemed panel; The fold-out bass drum spurs on my -67 kit are kinda "wobbly". Is there a modern spur set that I can substitute without drilling new holes?

Particularly the left spur starts to sag after a while causing the bass and tom to lean to the left. I have experimented with different angles on the spur but always the same thing occurs. I tighten it pretty hard to, but do not want to run the risk of ruining the thread.
