I've got a 3-ply set, with clear maple interiors. I believe that would date them to the early 70s.

Ludwig went back to clear interiors on the 3-plys in 1976 right before the 6-plys.

I have a set of the Red,Silver,Blue Ludwigs that I bought new in 1975. Date stamp on inside is 4272 and a model # 946. Still playing the same set today! Very Patriotic! Had 2 more toms custom made to match at Rupps drums in Denver back in 2003.

I think that my Slingerland set is from the mid seventies, too. My preferences for vintage drums ordinarily cut off at 1969. But early to mid seventies Niles made Slingies are virtually the same as the 1956 Sound King lug/stick saver hoop era change-over drums.
