Ludwig rail consolette hole spacing Last viewed: 13 hours ago

I was thinking of replacing my 60's Ludwig rail consolette with something newer but with the same hole pattern. It's slightly less than 4inches (10 cm) by about 2 1/5 inches. The newer Ludwig rails appear to be 4 1/2 by less than 2 1/2 so new holes would need to be drilled.

Would a new mount fit on an old rail? I would really like to have something that's easier to use. It's on a custom kit so there is no need to stray vintage but the holes are already there so it would be preferable to not to drill new holes. Does anything new fit the old rail consolette?

The 'new' Ludwig rail is slightly larger than the '60s -'70s rail so the new

style mount may fit the old rail but not vise versa. I have a 2011

Classic Maple with the new consolette and wanted to use a '70s upper

portion as a replacement so I could fold it down and the drum would fit

in fibre case - doesn't work.

And as you mentioned, the mounting hole spacing is different between

the original consolette and the new style, so you can't swap one for

the other.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I should probably just stick with the old style. A little harder to position but it does work. No senses in throwing money at it if the new style is to big for the old rail.

I made that mistake just a few weeks ago. I assumed the new rails would be the same hole pattern.Dummy!
