Shines like the sun! They are actually a little dusty in that pic! You should see um when they are really polished up. CoW rules!
Ludwig Power Factory Set Chrome Over Wood?
So I have the drums in my possession now and looked a little closer at the badges...they're pointy b/o badges which would likely make them early 70s but yet the wrap is held together with rivets which was a early 80s thing. Does this make sense? Oh, and the shells are 6 ply. Was there a hidden batch of pointy badges that surfaced in the 80s?
Pointy badges lasted until maybe 1977 or possibly 1978. Everything on that set points to late 70's as far as I can tell. I think the six ply shell came out around 1976 sometime.

Thanks wfl, I think what's throwing me off is the rivets in the wrap. My understanding is this was an extreme late 70s into early 80s feature.

I ordered a new Ludwig BB in the summer of 1979 and received the snare with my new Gretsch kit in the fall. I still have the BB and it has a B/O pointy badge with a serial number that starts with 199xxxx. What are the serial numbers?

all that being said, I would kill for an octa-plus sized set in CoW, deep sizes, modular harware, laquered inside, silverdots, 16 lugs on the 12&13" 20 lugs on the 14&15", four curved spurs on the kicks with big-ass 1" dia. pipes destroying all resonance, besides that's what reverb was for.ok I've returned from my trip back to the 80's let me wash the Aqua-net outta my hair.it's just too bad you cant fit a drum set in Doc Brown's DeLorean.
Don't forget the Deadringers
