The New Speed -- I bought this because I was doing a restoration for a gent, and wanted one to make sure all the parts were authentic... I believe this to be the 1936 model. At the Vintage Drum Guide catalog section, I found this only in the 36 to 38 catalogs. And I think it is the earlier one because there are no bearings in the axle/pedal cam assembly. What?! Does this mean it doesn't function smoothly? Nope. Smooth as can be. The axle/pedal cam assembly is BRASS, and is a beautiful piece of work. These pieces are painted, because that's how they are in the catalog. The only flaw is that the hoop clamp is broken on the left side. It is still partially round. The clamp works fine. As does the pedal!! I am serious, man. This thing is super light to play... and it's still ready to gig - on the small room, jazz trio, feathering sort of thing. The gent whose pedal I rebuilt said it worked very well with his 16" bass drum. So, either as part of a collection, or as a back up, it's a gas. It is SUCH a cool piece of hardware-what a design!

It's been completely reworked mechanically and cosmetically. $100 + 6 shipping.

Next up? Slingerland 804 hi hat. One of these came with my first kit, and the nostalgia thing... This was in very good condition when it arrived. The the footboard was bead blasted, and I sprayed a couple of light coats of polyurethane to help keep it clean. I had a new strap made because the Gibraltar or whatever just don't fit right. The direct pull is smooth, light and predictable (as in easily controlled). The part I love about this stand is that the rod folds, so when it goes in the hardware bag, fold it over, top rod and the clutch on it...

But that was also the bad news. There was a bit of play at the joint, and you could feel it .. the rivets were tightened and that's taken care. Again, reworked mechanically and cosmetically.

$110 + 8 to ship.

Thanks! Any question, ask away... but beware, I tend to go on and on about vintage hardware!
