Ludwig Muffler screw under the knob or over the knob??? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Ok Y'all Im on a mission now. I am on a muffler makeover mission. I have examined all my snares, and have determind that some of my choice snares need muffler attention. I hve a few that just have missing screws.........Strange that both my blackrolites are missing the muffler screws.....

And the luddy standard Im gonna rewrap in phsyc red or mod orange and put classic lugs on and have a 8 bowtie lug 3 ply wood snare for my collection.

I have 2 acrolites I aquired that had missing mufflers. one of these has a pearl strainer that required a extra hole 1/8" above the original top strainer hole.

FInally, I have my pre serial# Keystone Rewraped BDP Pioneer snare that requires a baseball bat muffler. I dont know what color yet. Red or White. I do not have this muffler in stock, except on my 63 WMP floor tom, so I will have to go shopping for one. A fellow forum member may have one, but ebay has everything. This will be a fun project. Relaxing and pretty easy and will satisfy my addiction to drums. And maybe my wife wont be so unmanagable so much......guitar2

Prequel: I have aquired several snare drums over the yrs, but the snare that has surfaced the most is the acrolite snare. I have bought kits that have had a acrolite included several times, including a pearl kit, a tama, a cb, and a yammie kit. I have picked em up in pawn shops for $50 or $80 and one free. 1/2 the time the muffler is gone. This is the reason for this thread.....

Uh huh,

The extra hole can be concealed behind a slightly larger washer. The pearl strainer covers the original hole on the out side of the shell but it can be seen inside the shell.

I got all my ludwig snares fitted with the correct mufflers except one. I have a standard snare I am planning on rewrapping and refitting it with classic bowtie lugs left. I have 8 acros, 1 ss, 1 supra, 1 marching, 1 jazzfest, 1 pioneer, 1 vistalite, and 4 later model metal snares.
