Ludwig Jazz Festival snare drum question Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Why don't I see Jazz Festival snare drums with a b/o badge from the 1970s? I look on E&%+ and only find JF snares with keystone badges. I Google Image and no luck. Are they THAT rare to see one with a b/o badge? Did Ludwig make very many of them in the 1970s, or am I just looking in the wrong places?

youre looking in the right spot most likely. you just don't see that many b/o badge jazz festivals around. guess many had made the big move to metal snares at that point. what color are you looking for anyway? ive seen a few around from time to time.

Actually Mike, I just picked up a 5X14 B/O badge. Serial #764995 in blue sparkle. Everything original on it. Didn't know what it was worth. Awesome sound but as far as holding on to it I can take it or leave it.

The Jazz Festival model was dropped by the 1973 catalog (which was likely published in 1972) so it didn't live very long into the B/O era. Additionally the fact that it was dropped implies that it wasn't selling as they wouldn't have stopped making it if it was selling well. So, relatively speaking, there are far fewer B/O badged examples than earlier ones, only a couple years worth and probably fairly low production during that time frame.
