Just picked up one last night.B/O badge cicra 1971 with natural wood interior(not white). The inner ply is lacquared. My question is did Ludwig lacquar this drum or was it done after the fact? THANKS
Ludwig Jazz Festival question
Yes, Ludwig did clear coat the interiors! I think this started happening around late 1968 or 1969. I'm sure others with more info will chime in!

Thanks Mark. I've had drums just like this one in the past but can't remember if the interiors were finished or not.
I have a silver sparkle 5.5x14 Jazz Festival with a white interior and date stamped as AUG 1 1968.
I'm thinking it was right around the time of the switch from Keystone to B/O badges... maybe a year or two earlier. 1967 or '68 (+/-)?
Personally, I've never knowingly seen a '67 with a clear coat interior, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a '68 with the clear coat.
Also, a couple years ago there was a late 60's Hollywood kit on eBay that one of the rack toms was clear coat, and the rest white interiors. The owner claimed he was the original purchaser. The serial numbers were all very close, indicating the kit was original.
Thanks for all the helpful answers. Another 'funny' thing about this drum is the serial number(764995).I tried to look this number up on vintagedrumguide.com & Ludwig's website but cant get no info on this serial number so I can know when it was manufactured. ANYBODY...............................Help2
John,
The badge switch from Keystone to Pointy Blue/Olive occurred at about serial number 749000, so yours would be shortly after that. It was in the 1969 time frame.
