Ludwig Cymbal Stand and Tilter Questions Last viewed: 7 minutes ago

Bought a few cymbal parts I needed on Ebay last night and was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what I purchased. I believe all the parts are vintage Ludwig but was wondering if someone could verify that fact and what the year of manufacture for each was. Thanks in advance!

First picture is the top section of a Ludwig shell mount cymbal holder. It could be from anytime from the mid sixties to today (they still make them) although probably an older one from 60's or 70's. Second picture is the top section from a 1400 cymbal stand, which was also used with the telescopic shell mount cymbal holder. Last picture is a 1400 cymbal stand from the late sixties or early 70's. That extra L shaped piece with the wing bolt on the top rod is the height adjustment that was used on the earlier version of that stand but serves no purpose here as the center tube has a self contained wing bolt .

Sure thing as soon as I get them shipped here. I have other ones here in my collection if you just need the measurement but if you want the measurement of the one in the pic specifically you'll have to wait until it gets here.

I am thinking about getting the whole assembly, but trying to figure out what the smallest height would be for the cymbal. Thanks for any help you can provide.

You can cut them down but the shortest height as they are made is approx. 14.5" from the bottom of the "L" rod (that engages the bracket on the bass drum) to the top side of the lower felt with the top tube in it's lowest possible position and the tilter set pointing straight up.

The telescopic disappearing design allows greater height variation but has its own quirks in that there is no way to adjust the angle at which it sticks out of the drum, depending on where the bracket is mounted on the bass drum...although Rogers added a swivo joint in the middle of their version to fix that.
