I found what I believe to be an old Ludwig 5x14 COB super. It's keystone badge and no serial. It's pretty heavy. No pitting. But it has baseball bat muffler. Can this be?

They had baseball bat mufflers starting in 1962. Should have a crimped snare bed. Got any pics? Check out this link, lots of good info.

Weight can be deceiving unless it is just the shell. Ludwig made a pre-serial Ludaloy shelled supra, also with the crimped snare beds. COB hoops also installed will make the snare as a whole seem a tad bit heavier as well. If you can look inside the shell and possibly see a seam, then I would guess it is brass. Also the bearing edges are more rounded. Even IF it isn't....a pre-serial NO PITTED Ludaloy supra is hard to find!
My COB is a brass 63' pre-serial with baseball bat muffler, crimped beds and rolled edges. I love mine. Excellent snare drums.

No date stamp inside my shell, but it looks like a seam. It weighs more than my old acro by a few pounds...using just a cheap bathroom scale that probably isn't that accurate.
Mine has the crimped snare bed too. I literally just learned about that.
The hoops look correct (the gates drop just a bit) and the pic of the bearing edge flange appears to head back toward the shell wall - am I correct? If yes, then brass it is.

Ron...yep it looks like flange is curved towards shell wall. I also see little "stress mark" lines (very faint straight lines) all over the inside of the shell.
Yep, that's definitely a "Super" 400. Congrats and welcome to the club!
