G'day to my fellow VDF members especially my fellow aussie VDF mates! :).I've just received from fee/prey bay what appears to be a 70s B/O badged Ludwig LB400 (14x5") COB (chrome over brass) Supraphonic. Now what puzzles me is that there's both NO serial number on the badge itself &NO Ludwig sticker (similar to the LUDALLOY? stickers inside aluminium Supraphonics).Nor is there a badge to say :LB400, as i know NOTHING about these type's of sanres is there a Supra "expert" on here that could should shed some light? , please?

Thank you

is the blue olive badge a cut badge or a full badge? is there a "B" stamped in the shell at the muffler?

Sounds like an early 70's cut badge. The shell would actually be a Super Ludwig 400.The reason for the cut badge was the shells were already punched for 60's keystone pre serial number badges.

At least that's what most agree on.Mlayton or VM2K might know more about it.

It could be a transition drum between the Keystone and Blue Olive style badges. I have an Acrolite from June 1970 and it didn't have a stamped serial number. It does have an engraved serial number, which is also referenced on the original receipt. I wonder if Ludwig originally tried to engrave the serial numbers or if it was done by the music store that sold the drum.

Is there a date stamp in the inside of the shell?

If it's really heavy, then it might be brass.
