Ludwig Club Date, rewrap question.... Last viewed: 5 days ago

Loading...

Hello all,

I think I know the answer to this but would love some feedback. I have a 65 Ludwig black diamond pearl Club Date kit, 20" bass, 12"tom & pioneer(wish it was jazz fest)snare. Found a 14x14 club date floor tom to complete kit but it is blue. My idea is to rewrap it bdp. This kit is more than likely going to stay in my possesion, but....if I wanted to sell it, will the rewrapped ft hurt the value even though its a 65 CD matched piece?

(asking price for this ft is $325, maybe a bit pricey anyway)

Also, if anyone has any leads on who may have the closest wrap matched to Ludwigs Black Diamond Pearl it would be very much appreciated. I want to go precision but the black diamond and charcoal diamond swatches do not closely match the Ludwig.

Thanks so much once again!

If you haven't already purchased the floor tom, I would wait until a match comes along. For that price, plus the cost of new wrap, it'd be a hefty investment, only to de-value the drum as not original. Answer you already knew? OR, you could swap the whole kit for a matched one, plus the cash you would have spent for re-wrap maybe? Unless the wrap is in really bad shape, I believe that it's always better to leave original when dealing with vintage drums... well, usually. :2Cents:

Thank you for the reply, I also believe in the same, LEAVE IT ORIGINAL! I guess my fear of not finding a bdp floor tom match took over my senses. I actually overlooked the cost of re-wrapping. I will be patient and wait.....

On the bright side, just about completed my 69 5 piece, photos to follow!!

Thanks again

I wouldn't buy the floor tom. I'd look for a cheap floor with similar wrap while you bide time to find a match club date.

Ya you will never find wrap that will look good anyway. I was going to do the same thing, got a sample of sky blue pearl to compare, not even close.

Thank you!

Agree with the replies above.

BDP is one of the toughest colors,... the new stuff isn't even close to the 60's pattern. Wait till a BDP floor tom comes around.

Don't be too disappointed with the Pioneer, they're wonderful snares and in perfect balance with a 20, 14, 12 Club Date.

I love Clubbies !
