Ludwig Club Date heads Last viewed: 1 day ago

So, I'm still restoring my '65 Ludwig Club Dates. When the time comes, I want to put as close to the original heads that came on the Clubs when new.

2 questions:

1.) Did Ludwig make their own heads, or were they sub-contracted?

2.) Were they close to Remo Emperors on top and Ambassadors on the bottom?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 65 clubbie with original heads. They are the same heads that MME posted a pic of.

On the various sets/drums I've bought many have come w/ era heads such as yours. Ludwig still makes them & they can be bought - but they are not the exactly the same. I know w/ new heads the Ludwig logo looks similar enough but its set further from the edge than vintage heads; composition may be different as well. Watch ebay {oh no! I said it} -

I have the original heads that came with my Ludwig Classics, took them all off top's and bottoms (I still have the batter on the bass for the logo) and put them away, not going on eBay, staying with the kit. Good luck!
