Ludwig Butcher Block Kit ??? Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Loading...

Hello,

I am going to look at this kit soon to maybe buy. Can anyone shed some light as to the year and make?

It looks like a 1976 or earlier Big Beat with a Butcher Block Cortex finish but has the 1980 style "Modular" Tom Mounting System. The badges appear to be B/O with pointed corners and 7 digit serial numbers.

It looks as though the drums are from the early 70's with an updated modular tom system???

Anything is possible with Ludwig, but that looks like a heavily modified kit, could be a great sounding players kit,but I think that is what it is because,

1.The kick is a 3 ply with re ring,so the modular mount is an add on,plus it has curved spurs, that is def pre 1980.

2. I see no badges ,but the toms are set up lefty and the FT seam is facing us,so the badge could be opposite. No badge on kick, could be covered by modular mount.

I would need to know more about the kit,ask seller if the toms are 3 ply, original modular kits are 6 ply.

Either way the kit is worth about 400.00 bills tops, for the drums. If the Cymbals are pro quality, say Zil A's prob worth 300.00 350.00,but about 200.00 if sold with set, I would offer 500.00 for the whole shebang.
