Ludwig b/o metal piccolo

Hey guys I found this at a local music store. Normally I HATE paying retail and I feel it goes against what we do. I would much rather have bought it from a collector or another member. That being said I did consult with another member regarding the price and if it was a good deal. I decided based on how scarce they seem to be ( I won't say rare ) to spring for it. It's 3"x13" and in excellent condition.

Do you guys think it's a good one to keep in the collection?

Not something you see every day, that's for sure. Were it mine it would be a "keeper"

Now you just need the rest of the "quartet"...

I don't think you should keep it. I think you should sell it to me. ;) Nice drum. I remember when they came out with those. They are cool drums.

Mike,

Thanks for the sage advice! If I have to move a few drums out of my collection for this guy I think it is worth it.

I will post some pictures ASAP when I get it in. In a perfect situation I can clone the lugs for those who might need them and also for myself to make a downbeat snare out of spare shells I have.

Those were going for a pretty penny a few years ago. I had one and sold it. Didn't like the 6-lug design. Also be careful of tensioning the drum. Those square lugs have a tendency to get worn by the holes in the drum. They'll wear through the female thread of the lug very easily and those lugs are hard to find and when they are available, they're usually not cheap. Bought some from Tom Mintz and he sent me 3 that were unusable, I only needed 3 and bought 6. He's another story for most of the folks here.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Would tell them that the strainer is not original and get them to come down a bit as well...good score!
