Does anybody make a good copy of the original wrap? Or does someone have a 3inch squared piece of original stuff floating around? I have a early 13 tom that someone put a pearl mount on it. I want to sell it and get as much as i can for it but that needs to be fixed first. Luckily it's almost covered by the original mount, but I want to get it looking proper.
ludwig black oyster pearl
The current "60's oyster Black Pearl" Available from Precision and elsewhere is a pretty good copy of the original. It looks good when a whole set is wrapped in it. Unfortunately it's not a perfect match when placed right up next to the original wrap so it probably would look worse than nothing at all. best to hope you can find someone with an original piece they want to part with...but even then it's tough to get oyster wrap patches to match up.
I once saw an oyster black bass drum where they filled the holes from a double tom mount bracket and somehow painted in the oyster pattern in and then topped it off with a gloss clearcoat. It was darn near perfect too but I have no idea of how they managed to do it.
Maybe put a Rogers swivo mount on the drum. That would likely cover the entire Pearl mount area and would also be "Ringo Correct".
The Rogers idea is extremely tempting, but I don't want to drill anymore holes. I wouldn't rule it out though. thank you.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
