Ludwig Bass Drum Spurs Last viewed: 11 minutes ago

Sorry guys, this one must have slipped by me.....as far as I know, the 18" and 20" clubdate drums mainly came with the telescopic spurs as the foldaway ones wouldn't sit correctly on the drums. Later on the foldaways were replaced by the curved retractables. But its Ludwig, there are exceptions, and I've seen just about any type of spurs on any size drum before....

Hey guys, I thought I might resurrect this thread and turn it into a zombie.

To reinforce the anything goes idea, I recently purchased a pre serial 22in with a 13 Tom with a 1963 serial number that has the telescoping spurs(well, the spur mounts at least, any one wanna sell me some straight telescoping spurs?)

It only has two mounts, no double your pleasure going on...

Hi. FYI, I have a sbp club date set from what I believe is 1963 and it has the 1303 spurs. Your ad/photo shows them with rubber protective tips. My bass drum spurs came without them and are dagger-like and dangerous. I guess that's a good thing in case anyone gets too close to it. So yeah, I guess Ludwig's spur selection varied?

Hey Larryz,

Are your spurs pointy-sharp on both ends?

All of them that I've had experience with have been sharp on one end and straight cut (flat) on the other. I always assumed this was to provide a choice of spiked or rubber-tipped for the user.

But, just because I've not seen it does not mean Ludwig didn't use spurs that are sharp on both ends. So this is why I ask.

Thanks,

MarkE
