ludwig bass drum shells Last viewed: 19 hours ago

I have just picked up 2 ludwig bass drum shells. both are 14 x 22. one is white cortex finish that someone has painted white over the finish and on the inside.

it has imprints of large classic lugs and half a blue & olive badge

the second is black cortex finish with a tan granitone inside finish, this also has imprints of large classic lugs and an imprint for a blue & olive or black & white badge.

can anybody help me identifying the age and series of these shells

thanks in advance

hey

do you have any pics? to me, granitone are the last 3 ply 70s Luds, before switching to 6 ply shells.

white interiors are more 60s so maybe this is an early 70s BD...

but you should find bigger experts here... :-)

I will get some pics uploaded when I get home from work. Both shells do not have re rings and I think the white one is 6 ply and may have been a lacquer finish

Actually, with the tan or brown granitone interior I believe it was a 3-ply shell with no reinforcement rings...

That is a little past my area of expertise and comfort level (I usually stay with the 60s-70s 3-ply with rings) but have run into the others from time to time.
