Ludwig 6.5 Brass - what is this?

Loading...

Hey everyone,

So I recently picked up this 6.5 Ludwig drum -

can anyone help me out here...trying to figure out what model it might be.

The lugs look different than the typical 6.5 snare lugs on a supra or wood snare -- the badge is an 80s chicago badge, no serial number - if I'm not mistake that's what that is?

Any ideas on what this might would be a great help.

Thanks!!!

that's a good one to have I think. that's an 84 drum. last drums to come out of Chicago had the large keystone badge. some had serial numbers and some didn't. the ones that didn't also usually have bowtie lugs instead of imperials. some say that that they ran out of imperials before the move. some also say its a 75th anniversary drum. not 100 percent sure here. that should be a bronze drum. nice find. ive got a 5x14 supra in the same. yours is a model L-552.

here's mine. mine was certainly meant for a b/o badge as the large Chicago badge(no serial number as well) is mostly hidden under the top hoop.

Typical Ludwig quality control, after the second one they should have adjusted the drilling station to accommodate the full badge view !i

The holes were/are punched into the shells, most likely by the company that spun the shells. So Ludwig would get a large order in that was already punched and if they made a production change that didn't work with the pre-punched pattern they had to work with what they had (because they weren't about to not use them).

I don't have that exact drum but I do have a couple of large Keystone Chicago badged drums. Both have the high badge placement.

Hi Fellas!

I recently bought this project snare, I guess it fit in your description above

(Large Keystone Badge-Chicago/ no S/N / 10 Bowtie lugs..)

Could be probably an ยด84 LM410 model Chicago factory pre-moved ??

Thanks for your wise responses!!Bowing
