The seller didn't mention anything about a repaint job. Did he know about it? I wouldn't have bought it had I known it was repainted.
Ludwig 14x 14 club date
I asssumed it was...it might not have been. The drum it self is in pretty mint condition so I wouldn't be surprised if it is original. Have you picked up the original legs, rim and tension rods yet?
By the way I'm pretty sure if this is the same drum we are talking about that it is a 1966.

I assumed the CD FT in CS on ebay was the one you were talking about earlier in this thread because it's the only CD FT in that wrap that's been on ebay for awhile.
The seller is in San Lorenzo, CA, so if you didn't sell to someone in or near San Lorenzo, CA then this is a different drum.
I'll look to see if it's a repaint when I get it. You sounded absolute on this point before but now you are less sure? Did you repaint it???? The fact that there may not be a date stamp is not conclusive that the drum was repainted to my knowledge.
I take your point about the year of the drum. The Ludwig chart makes it 65, but the companion guide to this forum makes it look more like early 66.
I also assume this was once your drum because you mentioned the missing rim and tension rods with accuracy. The seller states that he has replaced these, although in the case of the rim, it is for a snare bottom!
Yes, this seems to be the same drum. But, as I have stated the one I sold had no scratch and mine was what I think to be a 1966. The seller lives semi close but, I don't think the seller I sold to was in san lorenzo, CA. I think it might be the same drum but the guy I sold to must have re-sold to the ebay guy.
I assumed this drum was re-painted because when I bought it a couple months back it was so clean and had no date stamp. But, who knows?

OK, well you seemed rather sure the same drum you had was being flipped on ebay in the karma discussion posts! This guy used the same listing text and photos each time he put it up on ebay and it's the only CD FT I've seen in this color on ebay since November..
Moving on to the date stamps question, perhaps interestingly not a single Ludwig drum I own has a stamp (entire Downbeat set and Club Date Combo).
In both cases I bought them from either the original owner or the heir of the original owner who said they didn't repaint and I have no reason to disbelieve them.
The Downbeat set still has newspapers from 1964 inside the bass drum the owner put there to help dampen the sound!
The CD literally went under the bed immediately and there are hardly any marks on the heads except the snare as the owners children used it for school band for a little bit. THe hardware I got with the set is the cleanest I've seen--these are not drums I'd profile as susceptible to repaint jobs.
But no date stamp.
There is a discussion on this point on a vintage drum sales site that may be helpful--
I once asked Mr. Ludwig why only some of the shells were date stamped? He explained, "The reasons varied over the years. Sometimes it was because we wanted to accommodate certain dealers who didn't want the dates. Other times it was to keep up our production speed so that we could keep up with the demand. And sometimes it was just because the stamp pads ran out of ink."
Furthermore, not all of the dates that went on the drums stayed on the drums. Dick Gerlack, who recently retired from the Ludwig Drum Company as their quality control manager/ trainer/ buyer, was with the drum company from 1960 to 2001. He pointed out to me that because Ludwig used non-indelible ink for the stamping of the dates, some dates were inadvertantly smudged or removed - in part or whole – after the drums left the factory by drum owners while cleaning their drums.
