Ludwig 12x18 kick Last viewed: 17 hours ago

I have a 12x18 Ludwig kick. Blue olive badge, clear interior, serial puts it at 1969. It has a standard mount like the Gold Coast but the Ludwig book says they quit it in 66. Did they ever put a standard mount on a jazzette bass?. The mount is factory installed with correct washers and all. It is sky blue pearl with same as inlays. I want to put it on eBay but need to know what I have first. I would love to post pictures but can't seem to get that to work from an iPhone. Any information would be great or if somebody could help with the pic thing ill put em up.

Thanks

the mount is in the right spot for a gold coast bass. that mount kinda looks like the standard mount as opposed to the classic mount though. I don't recall seeing any blue olive gold coast models though. so i'm not sure which mount would be correct. beautiful drum either way and a great size as well.

I see the gold coast in the 67 catalog but not in the 71. so, its hard to say. but, the standards in which I reffered to with the mount, were made exactly during this period...

Thanks for responding. I know you guys like pictures and I just figured it out. The standard and the classic have the same bolt pattern and the hole in the center is cut big enough for either. This was for sure the way it came from Ludwig. Would you put a classic mount on it? I have the 8x12 on the way but no mount.

the gold coast was just an 18 bass, top part of a certain snare stand and a piccolo snare. what do you mean about the 8x12 mount?

Do you have any mounting post already? Or just the plate which came on the bass? Or the post, but nothing on the top of the post (the L arm) which actually attaches to the mount on the 12" tom?

I'm not familiar with the Standard post mount system, so I don't know what kind of attachment went from the post to the tom mount. I also don't know about what size L arm (if it is an L arm) the mount on your 12" tom will require. Do you know? Or do you have to wait for it to arrive? The old Classic size is 9.5mm There are some others around which are 10mm and won't quite fit.

Are you a purist for getting vintage Ludwig parts, or will new ones do? Ludwig have a single tom Classic tom mount consisting of the pole and the 9.5mm L arm (it might also be packaged with the bracket) which are nice. And 3rd party manufacturers make them also. If you aren't a purist there are several options.

If you are a purist, I suspect (but don't know for sure) that you would be able to find a vintage classic one more easily than a standard.

If I don't sell it I will probably slide a Tom holder in that plate a hang the twelve on it. That standard mount is in about the same spot as the rail woul have been if it had one. So it shouldn't be a problem. There's a few on the web set up like mine only with the classic plate.

Yes Zenstat I'll probably switch to the classic as it takes up the same holes. I'll stay with all vintage stuff of the right time to keep it all proper.
