many times, the resacote paint is thicker on the drums in the early 60's. my pre serial drums have much thicker, nicer looking white interiors as opposed to my 64-66 drums. I would again attribute this to the big ringo rush of the period.

Mike,

So is the interior paint on some 60's era Ludwig thinly applied where you can see the pores in the wood?

Does some look it was done by hand or sprayed over top of the lug screws?

The reason I ask is that I have some drums with all of the above issues. I attributed it to someone doing it after the fact, but I am speculating on that.

I hope I am not derailing the thread, bit could be relevant to the OP as well.

Thanks,

you described it exactly. some have just a very, very thin coat of white that looks almost spray painted. I have seen it over the lug bolts like you mention as well.

Awesome. Thanks for the clarification Mike.

I have a WFL bass and snare with Ludwig toms with the "issues" I mentioned above. The drums are separated by a few years according to the serial #'s I always wondered if it was an aftermarket enhancement or just sloppy work to make them all look the same on the interiors.

Thanks!
