If you indeed ARE in that price range for your budget, and if you like Blue Onyx and Rogers - I would snag up that kit from John/Purdie Shuffle. That is a quality kit that will be the cream of the crop and will be a kit that is worthy of marriage and not just dating.

I have never heard anything bad about John and he has been around here a long time and very active. Strikes me as a guy of integrity and a pure heart.

Indeed not adding much to the conversation here - at the same time, you need to know who/what you are dealing with here. He is one of the very well known and respected members in this community. ...and Rogers - I think that goes without saying, especially in that era.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

You missed your calling, you ought to be writing sales copy for high-end drum catalogs! If Ford had you on his sales staff in the 20's, he would have sold a lot more model T's! :D

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Drumrms, hi.

if you got 800$...please do not waste it on the set you are looking at. yes they are Ludwigs (the best money can buy {big smile}) but not worth that much. if the floor tom was the same as the kick and litl tom, i would say give the guy maybe 400$ , i got a way nicer kit from right here on this forum for 550$. then sorta stoled a matching snare from John/Purdie.

basically, if you want a really nice vintage kit....put ur money in your pocket, hang out here, ask questions and look around a bit and i guarantee...you will find "just what you have wanted for a Very long time".

Yes...you can trust John (Purdie Shuffle) very well. He has been very helpful with me getting "my dream drum". He is a really nice guy. and them Rogers he has...they are worth the money and you would not be dissatisfied in any way.

There are some others that may have some good offers to run past you. you might check with surface, he is the guy i got my kit from. he's a nice guy too. sorry john (big grin). I have bought from a few here and they have ALL treated me well.

anyway...hope you find that right set of drums. good luck.

Stay Wiggly,
Robyn

Michel (drumfx) is a good guy that I have bought gear from and he went out of his way last time to make that happen. I have a feeling you are dead set on Luddies, so I don't have to repeat what a stand-up guy PurdieShuffle is or what a great kit he is selling.

I'm sure a Ludwig vs Rogers thread will pop up eventually Laughing H

I'd offer him $150.00 at most. How much do you think you could get if you had to sell it?
