Longshot Request for a Snare Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I'm looking to buy a snare drum that is date stamped July 1951. Any American made company, in ANY color or size. Been looking for almost a year still no luck.

I know this is a very odd request but here is why:

My mom was born in July of 1951 and she is approaching the big six O. She has been a huge inspiration to me as a person and as a drummer. So I would like to get a drum from the same month that she was born in, to pay homage to her every time I play.

Strange request I know but if any of you have a snare that fits the description let me know.

Check Chicago Craigslist under Slingerland. There is a 1951 Slingerland snare but they don't list a month. Worth an inquiry.

I would think your best bet would be a '51 Leedy Ludwig. They're fairly common, and tend to have date stamps on the interior. I'm not sure what other brands were doing date stamps then...Gretsch was but the stamp can be hard to see (if it's even there at all), and they're much more rare than L&L from this era.

L&L snares had a 4 digit stamp for the date, in the format of YYMM, so you would want it to say 5107.
