Lighted bass drum

Loading...

I always thought it was cool when a drummer had the band logo lighted on his bass drum head. So, this afternoon I decided to go to the hardware store and wire up a light fixture in my Clubdate combo.

I used ludwig smooth white heads and a 25 watt yellow party light bulb.

I'm not gigging it just using it to mood light my music room.

Lights on:

Very cool. I'm assuming no actual mods to the bass drum, so how's the light mounted, and how does the electric cord exit the bass?

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

No drilling, I bought an 8 foot lamp cord, inline switch and a swichless fixture at ace hardware. The cord goes throug the keystone eyelet and hangs by the cord "Psycho" style.

Problem is removing it is a pain, and I'm worried about heat from the bulb. I'm gonna try an led bulb and see how it looks.

Very nice! Great idea!

You can also try CFL bulbs. They don't get nearly as hot as regular bulbs. Also, they come in several colors (blue, red, green, orange, black, pink and yellow).

I might have to try that too!

Yeah I had thought of using a cfl also, but I think for actually playing it, LED would be more durable.
