I made a boo-boo Green Glass. That pic is not the lug that I thought it was. Never liked that one at all. The ones that I drew inspiration from were later than that one. I don't know what they called by Ludwig, but if you look at the Cosmic 21 snare drum lug you'll get the general idea. With a shorter version for each end of the toms.

As I mentioned before, I've bought a Cosmic 21. Because the owner is away, I actually won't get the drum until mid-March. I know it looks good, as he has sent several pictures, and if it sounds as good as its reputation, I'll be most pleased. I'm also excited that the drum belonged to Jock Cummins. That means it was probably heard on the BBC, which gives it some historic integrity. I'm going to email the seller and see if it has the original heads on it. I hoping it does, and they're in good shape.

Which brings me to my question: did Beverley and Premier use the same heads, and if so, who made them?

Thanks very much.

Best.

Yes. Beverley and Premier (and Olympic) all used exactly the same heads. They were called Everplay. And it was the same on all the drums, SDs, Toms, BD etc.

Even the marching drums used Everplay heads, identical to the group stuff.

The snare drum batter head was brushed so that it was a slightly rough surface to come to life while using brushes.

A lot of the guys at the time used to switch to Remo as they thought Remo was superior. I tried have my original Everplay heads on my Cosmic 21. We did some in-factory tests as well. Still couldn't hear any difference.

Regards,

John

Yes Stephen. Beverley and Premier all used the same Everplay heads and they were made in the factory. See reply to relayer, I think it was.

NOS = New Old Stock

So original drum heads that were never used. A lot of people would love to know the answer to this question.

I just bought some 12" pre-international Remo heads for my Premier and I was not too impressed with how they fit into to cast hoop and on the shell.
