Leedy help

Loading...

Picked up a 5.5 X 14 WMP Leedy shell and lugs today, blue badge with the 48 postal code. It has a tone control and is 8 lug. It is set up for a 3 point throw. My questions are is this a Shelly Manne model or the relience, and what rims and throw off would it use. The throw off of a 54 Leedy & ludwigs fits the hole pattern, the butt fits as well. If this is supposed to have stick savers would reguler Slingerland hoops be correct. I know this is a Slingerland shell as it is identical to several other Slingy snares I own, maple with maple rings and the P stamped inside but no date. Any help would be appriciated, I know you guys like pictures but I have not got that together yet.

From vintagemore2000

clubdate64, the P stamp stands for Pearl or wrapped finish, and the M stamp stands for a stained or painted shell.

well that explains it. so if you see M on the inside of a bare shell don't wrap it cuz it will be to fat for heads... they thought of everything!

Here's my 1963 Shelly Manne model. The badge has the Chicago 48 on it.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thank you Leedybdp you have the sister to my drum, those pictures were exactly what I needed. I found a throw off, now I just need a butt and 2 hoops and some tension rods. Could you possibly tell me how long the rods are and are the stick saver chrome over steel or brass. I think the butt is like a zoomatic. My shell is in real good shape, covering is nice, badge is tight, lugs and muffler are good to. So a few more parts and this baby is added to the shelf.

There is a new retro reissue snare butt assembly currently on eBay listed under Leedy. The stick savers are chrome over brass--magnet does not stick. The tension rods are 2 inches long from tip to tip.

Thanks leedybdp you saved the day. Another member has the hoops and tension rods, so I think I'm in luck.

I will get some pictures of it up when it is done, I just have to figure out how to do it.
