Leedy and ludwig marcher shell

Loading...

Found this old guy at an estate sale. Best offer. As you can see the shell does have some reinforcement ring issues. Gold sparkle 15x12 , decent shape . I was going to convert it into a bass drum but I have other plans for other projects. Shell only. There is writing inside the shell "leedy and ludwig shell ". Not sure of its factory. Wrap seems tight and in decent shape for its age. Also still seems round

Best offer

Seems round? You need to measure it to know for sure. Take two measurements across the shell at 90 degree angles to each other and see if it's the same diameter (no matter where you measure it across, it should be the same number.) 1/8th" off is allowable, heads will fit and the drum will still tune-up ok. More than 1/8th" off and it's a 'problem shell' not a 'project shell.' Before somebody spends a lot of money rewrapping the shell, adding lugs, heads, hoops and hardware, it would be good to know if the shell is 'in fact' in-round. 'Seems like,' is just not a wise way to go, you really need to 'know' and then pass that information on to the prospective buyer.

Good luck with your sale...

John

Too many great drums to list here!
