I'm looking at 2 snares for use mainly in jazz and some blues - a late 70s slingy hollywood ace (I believe 3 ply, maple re-rings) and a mid 90s Nashville RK 110 both great shape and 5.5x14. Wondering which would be best player for jazz / blues? Im not so interested in the piercing crack but like a bit of bottom end in a nice-sounding sensitive snare and good all-round player as my only other snare is a mid-2000s DW 6.5x14 solid shell. Any guidance appreciated as Ive heard neither live!!!

Hey Stevo, were yours single ply maple (steam bent) or 3 ply - the dilemma is the 90s nashville is single ply and I found a mid 60s Artist 3 ply as well which complicates the situation! So..
70s 3 ply Ace
60s 3 ply Artist , or
90s 1 ply maple RK
as a go to jazz snare with sensitivity/sound main priority - confusing - all reasonable price, good shape and within a 100 bucks of each other , so price is not an issue - guidance form anyone out there very appreciated!!!

If you can play all of the drums let your ears decide which one is for you.
unfortunately I can't as they are too far from where I live - and need to be mailed - and videos are not available and in any case, aren't clear if they were - cheers
