One thing you will notice ..........

the snare frame will still have some movement when tensioned properly by the throw off. It will never be tight against the head. That only serves to choke the drum.

On another note, I played a 6.5 X 14 Supraphonic at Drum Center of Portsmouth the other day. Loved the sound of that. I couldn't a/b it with the Dyna tho.

Anyone have thoughts about the differences in the Dyna vs. Supra?

My tuning/set-up instructions for the Dynasonic snare drum will get your drum EXACTLY where it needs to be, and then allow YOU to fine tune it. THANKS Kevins for supplying that link!! Anyway...

Yes... use the throw adjutment knob to help with "rattle" if it's making you crazy... but GENTLY! The snare frame MUST be able to move side to side a little for MAXIMUM performance out of this model drum. NEVER OVER TENSION the throw!! I have seen/repaired NUMEROUS COB Dynasonics with the "dent" behind the throw from over tensioning. These COB shells are actually quite soft... they "move" easily. By the by...

I play the Rogers Dynasonic snare drum pretty much exclusively.. ( usually the wood model in WMP, but the properties are EXACTLY the same of course ) .. and wrote that guide based on what I have learned over YEARS of playing this drum. It is going to rattle/buzz a bit... that's just the way they work. However... in the performance medium, no one really ever hears that over the sound of the rest of the drums and/or band. I have also recorded demos for various bands using the Dynasonic, and even in the controlled conditions of the recording studio, one CAN'T hear the slight buzzing over the band in the final mix.
