Late 20's early 30's Ludwig marching snare
GREAT JOB! Thanks for sharing. I'd also love to see your J.W. York & Sons snare drum since I've also got one. Perhaps you could be kind enough to post a pic when you get a minute. Thanks!
Is there a way to post pictures in the snare drum/drum set galleries or does somebody on VDF do that? I don't know if I'm missing something or if that is done by someone else. Help2
Yep, Admin does it....
Beautiful drum !
Is your York drum made by them or one of the brands they distributed?
Thanks

I foolishly sold a Lyon@Healy snare from about 1902 that had the paper L@H label inside the drum and the York and Sons metal badge on the rim...
Here's a couple of pics...
York did manufacture some drums, but mainly brass instruments... they distributed a variety of instruments from several manufacturers.
This is what I recall from my research, I wish I had saved the web pages....
You can date York badges and labels somewhat by the way his family grew...
First York.... then York and Son.... then York and Sons
I think the York badge was 1890s? .... and progressed from there.
Would love to see some pics!
