I have both The Danmar wood Red colored extended length beater and This Gibraltar hard felt extended length beater for my bass drum over 22". For a 24.26,28 inch bass drums you really want one of these. The shaft length is 7".
Large bass drums over 22" this is the beater you want
Thanks Mark, I want to try that on my Fibes 24" er
Thank you!

Thanks for the info. I just wish the replacement beater didn't weigh as much as they do these days. All the newer beaters seem to be rather hefty and too weighty for me. How is the weight on this one compared to the old beaters?
I'm always searching out vintage felt beaters and I'm primarily a rather hard hitting rock drummer.
The Ludwig replacement felt beater works but it has the steel shaft. At one time those would bend after a while, but my technique has since changed and that is no longer an issue.

I am a heavy bass drum player I can lay waste to a bass drum head very quickly. This beater the extended length Gibraltar Hard felt beater is 104 grams, A standard Ludwig felt beater is 84 grams. I personally like the weight of the Gibraltar also from simple physics the longer beater will be heavier in the axis plane, So this is going to give you more power and a bigger sound, I feel it takes less effort with this beater than a standard Ludwig beater . this pic show both beaters side by side.
