Some time ago I picked up a Slingy black & gold duco 2-piece kit (bass & snare) at an estate sale, thinking that it might be a good candidate for a rockabilly-type kit. Some time later I picked up a Slingy gold sparkle rack tom that matches the original in-lays in the bass drum hoops. I really haven't done a thing with any of it as of yet. I was thinking that someday I might be fortunate enough to find matching rack and floor toms to go with the kit. However, whenever I do the asking price for each piece seems to be significantly more than I paid for all the other pieces combined and I'm simply not interested in investing that much into this particular project.

Since I've got a couple of Slingy rack toms without wraps (removed by prior owners) I was kicking around the idea of having one of them painted in the duco finish to match the other pieces of the kit. However, being totally devoid of any skill in that area I thought I'd check if any of my fellow forum-members might do that type of work or know of someone who does. I'd simply like to get an estimate of what something like that might cost. This effort obviously wouldn't help in regard to finding the elusive floor tom but at least I'd end up with a matching 3-piece kit.

I guess that another possibility might be to simply find solid black toms to use with the kit. I've looked for a gold sparkle floor tom to match the rack tom that I've already got but, again, what I found was extremely pricey.

Any "words of wisdom" would be greatly appreciated!
