Joe Morello kit on eBay

From Tommyp

Hey Mark!Whereas I can't so much comment on the authenticity of the JM Ludwigs, I CAN tell you that all the ???????????????'s are a "glitch" that happens sometimes when one sends a reply contingent on what software or delivery system they use. I have seen this before! I've gotten replies that were loaded with ??????????????'s too... and almost always through eBay. I have a feeling THAT is where they might eminate from, or at the least ONE of the places anyway. Interesting!Tommyp

Are you 1000% Positive about that? My youngest son in his second year at Sac State tells me the question marks are keyed in by the sender... And is a code of sorts.... Yes, and it's a question also....I am sure there are quite a few people on this forum that know exactly what that is....And the question they are asking.....And it's definitely no glitch....

Every time I've taken an interest of sorts into something difficult to sell (ie Houses, Cars, even Timeshare) there's always that someone who is "interested" in the background. It's almost like I'm being followed! Who is this interested person??????

Hmmm... Well, the only time I have ever personally seen a relpy with that many ???????????'s, they were replies generated by/through eBay. I drew my conclusion about a probable "glitch" from that. With that said though, I'm game! Okay Slingalud, let's hear it! If there is indeed something to it.. ( a "code" of some sort ) .. what is it?!?! Why would you make mention of what your youngest son in his second year at Sac State KNOWS... and then not tell?!?!?!?? Is it some clandestine type operation??!!?? ??Something covert??!!?? ( and for the record, all those ??!! were keyed in by me! LOL! ) Seriously though, ALL our inquiring minds want to know! ??Do tell, won't you??

One possible explanation is that your computer can't support certain characters. Each character that is displayed on your screen is actually a binary value represented by a series of ones and zeroes. These values are defined in a "character set," which includes a range of letters, numbers, and symbols. If the character set is not defined in an email or your system does not support it, some characters may show up as a question marks.

Even if your computer does support all the characters in an email, you may still see question marks or other strange characters if the character encoding doesn't match. The character encoding specifies how each character is encoded as a binary value. Therefore, if your email client does not support the character encoding used in the sender's email, some characters may appear incorrectly.

Most often, if you see a random question mark here or there, it is probably a special character, like ñ, é, or —. These characters are not part of the standard ANSI character set and require a specific character encoding, such as UTF-8 or ISO 8859-1. If you see a bunch of question marks in a row, it is probably a series of characters from a non-Western language, such as Chinese or Arabic.

The other possibility is that the Chinese are using Ebay to send encoded messages. Then of course there's the possibility that someone has an overzealous pinky or a sticky ?/ key!!!

No. This is not a glitch. It is a way to lie in a listing and not be legally responsible.

Back to the topic, I've seen these drums on ebay for months and months now. I think the seller had these for $14,000 at one point?

Joe Morello if he were alive wouldn't even touch these for $7k.

What? that makes no sense whatsoever. Why would Joe Morello buy his own drums for any price?

Really?????

I suppose you believe that if you make a promise and cross your fingers that you don't have to keep the promise?

I wish the world was that simple!!!

There really is no "Legal" recourse on Ebay. The only thing you have going for you are Ebay rules. You can open a case and either have your money refunded or not.

The ad says the drums were owned by Joe Morello, the seller is a reputable company with 100% positive feedback. If they answer a question with an answer and have a lot of questions marks after the answer it doesn't make the answer invalid.
