Jazz Kits - Which One Is Magic For You...

It would not surprise me if your kit was date stamped 1969 because the badge on the 12 hangs kind of low like it was drilled for a keystone.

I thought the same thing about that badge position. And the snare drum matches so well, even though it is a KB, it might also be a '69. That would be a first! A matched kit WITH the matching snare drum....but without matching badge styles? It's Ludwig....It could happen!:p

Beautuful WMP jazzette! Is it actually date stamped 1969 inside? Does it have clear maple interiors or ganitone? It would not surprise me if your kit was date stamped 1969 because the badge on the 12 hangs kind of low like it was drilled for a keystone. Very cool set! I love mine!

No the kit isn't date stamped. The serials are 760998, 763745, 762696 so right on the cusp. And yes the 12" tom is drilled for the earlier keystone badges, well spotted. The interiors ought to be clear (based on the dates/serials) but they are white resocoat. Could have been done at the factory but only your hairdresser can say for sure. The snare is date stamped Nov 18 1963

I bought it long before the kit and it was painted black. Looked like legit lacquer finish but for a few telltale signs. After a lot of restoration work out came unfaded WMP (protected by the black paint) which matches the Jazzette kit perfectly.

^^^A thing of beauty! Can we add a picture of your kit to the Vintage Drum Guide's special Jazzette section? Welcome to the forum!

Thanks O-Lugs and atomicmorganic. Yes it would be an honor to have mine appear in the Jazzette section. Any other details you need?

I think all we need is your permission to include it. Thanks!

ROGERS Clev 18,12,14 silver sparkle.... or Rogers Clev 20,12,14 in green sparkle. Take your pick. (Sorry about the bad lighting.)
