Absolutely a scam here - no doubt in my mind about it.In both my cases though the items were not rare or expensive. I started this thread to find out if it was a common occurrance.....looks like it is. It's one of the faults with the eBay system. Overall though....I must say.....it sure is nice to have world-wide access at your fingertips for stuff you need.30 years ago....you'd be on the phone or writing a letter looking for stuff or even going on extensive road trips just to get a chance to look in music stores or second-hand shops to try to find a part or a drum. eBay is not perfect but it's pretty handy sometimes I'll give it that.

Isn't there usually a banner at the top that says something like "Seller ended the auction early due to an error in the listing" or something of a similar nature.?

Always put the items in your watch list. There will be a banner at the top of the listing that tells you what happened.

And if its in your watch list, there will be a small note that says the seller relisted the item if they actually relisted it again.

I occasionally have to take down an item because there was a error in the description, but I always relist it so people who are watching know its still for sale.

I didn't see a baner. I just don't know how someone bids that much and it shows up as sold for that amount

I took a screen shot of the rolling bomber snare that recently was taken down. I had it in my watch list and there is a banner along the top of the listing

I've been on both sides of this situation. I always have a statement in all of my auctions that says, "the item is for sale at another location and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time". It's a heads up to the bidders that, if you really want or need this item, bid or offer now. There are times when someone makes an offer I can't refuse, so the item gets sold. On the other side, I have asked a seller if they would consider an offer and they say "yes". I offer, they accept and the auction ends. It has it's good points and bad points, but thats how it has been for the past couple of years on E-bay.
