Is this a good Deal?

Hi guys, I came across this black beauty for sale, but I don't know much about it. He's selling it for $550, but it's OBO. Is this average price, to much or a good deal? I've been wanting to buy a black beauty for a while, and I finally have a little money to do so. My problem with this one is the NSMD engraving. Will this hurt the value?

This is one of John Aldridge's drums, It's not a Ludwig, Even though it's the same shell supplier as Ludwig, this is a super fine drum. John is one of the top engravers in the world. and Did Ludwig's last batch of drums. It's well worth the money as a excellent example of a Black Beauty and the engraving will hold it's value.

I think the nsmd on it is really cool. Lots of guys read that. Gives it character. Is this a worldmax shell? Seamed?

I thought the JA drums were made by the same supplier, one piece seamless shell.

Johns work is highly regarded, and I think 550.00 is a fair price considering the quality and the hand work.what they are going for used I have no idea.

Agree. A drum related enterprise being engraved on there is favorable. If it was John Deere or ExxonMobil, may be not so much.......LOL. The work from that picture looks impeccable, at least to me.

Well, even if it's a great drum, It's not truly a black beauty, and thats what I have my heart set on, so I'm going to pass on it. If anyone is interested in it, here is the link

I was always under the impression that he got the World Max shells. That's awesome that they are USA shells. Very cool. Clapping Happy2

He actually used several vendors!! so It would depend on which time frame this drum is.
