To my inexperienced eyes it looks like a good kit. I think the price is good but is a retail price. I think the snare is a pioneer? I would buy it if it was for personal use. I don't think you'd make alot of money re-selling though. IMHO.

I'm with Gerald. It's not a flipper, but a reasonably priced quality kit. Looks nice and original. I know nothing of the granitone years in Ludwigs history, but I imagine the Drums should sound lovely.

I don't see anything that would scare me off. The wrap has the correct "trapezoid" chip pattern that was unique to Ludwigs of that time. The price is probably near the top end of the scale so they aren't a "steal" but probably worth that much. Like the others said not a flipper at that price but a nice three ply. If you could get them to shave 100-150 off the price it would be better and maybe they priced it with that in mind.

Not sure why Ludwig went to granitone interiors but nothing really changed about the drums. Perhaps they got a deal on some maple that wasn't quite as pretty as they had been using so they decided to cover it up. Maybe they simply thought they'd sound better with a slightly rough interior coating.

As far as value due to granitone being there that would ultimately be decided by a buyer based on his perceptions and if he THINKS it's a negative in some way he won't pay as much...although in reality I'd bet 99% of people couldn't tell the difference in a blind listening test.
