Greetings folks. Nice to find a gathering place for people with a similar affliction^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h jones^h^h^h^h^h hobby.
My collecting interests are somewhat eclectic and continue to evolve. First category is marching snares, where I'm seeking to collect a good example of every evolutionary stage in engineering. This has resulted in around a hundred drums ranging from the Civil War to modern day.
Second category is orchestral snares, where again the different methods of engineering are fascinating - especially exotic shell materials (e.g., carbon fiber) and multi-timbral strainers. Still curious about the recent move toward ultra-dry sounds in this arena. Have a dozen or so drums in this group.
Last category is drum sets, and this one I've sort of backed into. Have a handful of sets purchased mostly for playing enjoyment. Only "collectable" is perhaps a Tequila Sunrise Octa-Plus.
Am interested in sharing information, and learning about restoration.
Best regards to all,
