The wood looks very brigĥt doesn't it? You could be forgiven for thinking it was a maple shell. It IS MIJ though. Nice to build a little practice jazz kit with MIJ drums. I've a MIJ kit with a 16" Thunder bass drum, 12" Star Tom and 14" Pearl floor tom. I have to have a good snare though, but MIJ are good for toms and bass drums and I don't care what anyone says. I'll sing it from the top of a mountain! I love my MIJ drums and I don't care who knows it! I get a great sound out of my MIJ kit and I found most of it in a ditch. :D
