Thanks , basically I'm looking for a Radio King set, early 40's. My first question is what is the difference in shell make up and the profile of the edges between RK of that era and lets say mid 60's Slingy's? I know the edges were most likely not consistent, but did they change drastically?

Thanks.

If you feel like widening your search into the fifties, I have a RK outfit in OK shape for sale that might get your itch scratched for the moment, at least.

the 40's Radio Kings compared to the 60's slingerlands are night and day different, you would almost think they where built by different companies and in away they are and where, the 40's rk's have very thick reinforcment rings, and the 60's do not, the bearing edges are a more rounder profile on the 40's and the 60's are a sharper bearing edge, the two er's have completely different build construction also, there are no comparisons in the two examples you've asked for. also there are no 60's radio king drum kits. I have a large double bass 30's kit that I will keep forever.

Thanks for the information. I knew there was no 60's RK per se, but I was curious about the shell make up difference. My 60's toms have a pretty round factory edge. They have a 66 stamp but no badge or vent hole. So am I understanding correctly that the shell make up is essentially the same, but the re-rings are much wider and the edges are more rounded on the 40's RK?
