I Love War!

No, not that kind I mean Eric Burdon's band War.

Great multi-ethnic talent on display blending rock, reggae, rhythm & blues, funk you name it!

The original band in the 70's were my favorite. No so much after Eric left.

Liked Eric in the Animals too.

For those of you not familiar (and I'm sure there are not many on this forum) here is video of them.

Warning: It's a long one.

Check out the Ludwig set and the solo at about 5:10

Enjoy, I sure did.

I'm sorta a younger fella, but I was raised on all of that "good music"! I got a chance to see War a few years ago... well, it was the keyboard player Lonnie, but they played all of the old War songs. Pretty good show; all of the original instruments were represented with the new musicians....

Also, saw Steve Winwood last week in Houston, TX. Great show! Go see him if he's through a town/city near you. Great musicians in his band!

I actually prefer the band's output post Eric Burdon. Some white, long-haired, over-faired, blah blah blah... Some great R&B. A talented group.

I like both versions but prefer them post Eric. The World is A Ghetto and All Day Music are probably my favorites.

The early stuff is just so organic. I can't think of another band of the era that had captured that multi-ethnic sound like they did. Almost perfect.

Ray Kamacho and the Teardrops were very good too. More focused on latin, though.

Yep, I'm old enough to appreciate the talent of Eric Burdon. His raspy, expressive voice was pure soul back in the day. He had more feeling in his delivery than any other British import band singer that I can remember. You knew that when Mr. Burdon opened his mouth that the rafters would rattle! What a talent!

War, yes! That first band was one of the best jam-bands ever. Those guys could cook! And Eric was The Man when it came to having a perfect Blues voice. Thanks for posting that clip. Makes me want to fire up a doob and listen to it over and over. That band is the real whammy-jammy right there.

Yes! You guys do have great minds! Damn, what a great tune! Mr. Burdon can rattle one's stomach. In my opinion, he was a far underated singer. he could do it all and still can, I'm sure.
