As I mentioned in a previous post, I found a pre-serial Super Ludwig this week at a local GC mislabeled as a 70's supra. $200- Nice shape with some scratching here and there. I disassembled, gave it a good cleaning, buffed out the lugs a bit and it came out better than expected. Crimped beds, brass hoops, thick lug casings. Front plate on strainer is incorrect, l'll eventually replace it with one that has the proper logo, small round muffler, no date stamp. Sounds great... dark and fat Im happy. Some promised photos.

there is actually a member here looking for that bottom face plate that you have for a p83 off of a ludwig standard. maybe he'll see this...

Very nice snare,and good price too...if I'm not mistaken...that's a one year drum...meaning i know they made COB Super 400's from 1958-1963,however,it has a pre-serial"LUDWIG"badge and a 3/4" muffler,pre baseball bat(BB mufflers started in 1961)...which makes this drum a 1960 cob...SWEEEEt!!!
