A while ago I grabbed an Acro on Ebay.

"Buy now" for 179,00. (see picture 1&2)

The ad said:

" This auction is for a vintage 60's Ludwig Acrolite 5"x14" Snare Drum with the baseball bat muffler that is present and fully functional. This is a very clean drum except for some light scratches, thanks for looking!"

Picture 3, 4 & 5 shows it after a 30 minutes clean.

Original heads and snare wires.

I'm a happy man !

Thanks John,

I couldn't believe my eyes when I unpacked it.

The drum looks absolutely new. Not a dent or a scratch on it!

I don't need to tell you that in a non-US market it's quite a thing to get your hands on a truelly mint vintage drum.

On top of that,... it sounds amazing. (and to think that this was Ludwig's entry level snare,...)

Easily one of the best snare drums in the world, imo.

Thanks for the nice comments,...

I took it out to a gig 2 weeks ago. (small venue, 100 people max)

The drum kit had only 2 microphones, one in front of the BD, one overhead.

During the sound-check, the 2 club-owners complained the Acro was too loud!!??

I took out the Pioneer and they were happy,...

I admit that I'm a hard-hitter but did you ever have a similar experience ?
