That is a very nice looking wrap. It is very similair to my red tiger pearl to which I am highly biased if for no other reason than it is the only set of drums I have ever had!!

Very nice looking drum, Mcjnic!!

Happy Holidays all

I do! I do! Oh! Pick me, pick me! I'm interested in that 13 inch tom in red onyx. What (other than Gretsch) would you be interested in? I have cymbals (posted in the for sale section), an occasional drum, a cat, and some slightly used monkey bread. Call it!

I'll trade the neighbors cat for some of that monkey bread. Even better, send your address and I'll send the cat, GRATIS!

Sent the 13 in to get an edge repaired and the 16 wrap needed a professional touch. The edge came back perfect. The wrap is being done. Very nice work. When the other drums come back, I'll update again.

Here's a shot of the nicely Roger-ized edge on the 13. It was in rough shape. It had some serious gouges as it traveled through the years with only one head. Remember kids, two heads are better than one!

Located a nice Rogers COB Powertone snare. The shell was slightly out of round. I worked on it and got it very near perfect. I had picked up a very nice shell from our good friend from the DrumFarm that was a tiny bit better. I swapped the hardware and got that up and running. First two shots are of the completed snare.

I guess I have an extra shell still sitting around if anyone needs it. oooooooo....shiny. Second two shots are of the 'extra' shell. If you need one...let me know.

Here's the shells...back from the shop. They did a wonderful job on them. Not the best business experience I've ever had, but I can't complain about the craftsmanship. Very nice.

The 16 was wrapped and the edges were done. Slick work. They matched the wrap spot on. The pic was to demonstrate just how closely they matched the original wrap. The 16 (on the left) was rewrapped and the 12 (on the right) is original. I also took the pic to show the missing dampener. Long story there.

Great match!Bowing

Just wondering where the re-wrap was done?

Was it Precision Drum by any chance?

Gorgeous! As I said in an earlier post, there's just something about Rogers and Onyx.

Can't wait to see the whole kit put together. Have you got much left to do?

Kits:
1950s Gretsch Name Band in Midnight Blue Pearl (13/16/22/14sn)
1965/66 Ludwig Club Dates rewrapped in Black Diamond Pearl (12/15/20)

Hardware hardware hardware. Lots of work on the hardware. Still missing a part or three. A bit of work on the bass hoops. Not bad, but still a long road before I call 'er done.

Yes, working on the hardware is tedious and laborious.

I recently wet sanded about 40 t-rods one after the other, if not for the end result, the whole process is tiring.

Nice kit being birthed here, so all that hardware work is very much worth the effort.

Mcjnic, possible to throw up a pic of your new drum workshop?

One of my frustrations is lack of work space!>!>!>!

Hello all-NEW GUY here.I am an avid Gearslutz.com freak so it's no wonder I ended up finding this site.I got to jonesn' for some old shells to record with.I immediately saw a local Phoenix craigslist ad for a White '76 Powertone kit,22/12/13/16,in great shape and snagged it for $500 bucks. This is the exact kit and finish I owned back in 1980 that I kicked myself for selling, and who knows,it could have landed right back in my hands...Orig hoops were absent,so gibralter 2.5's filled the void but the shells were round, although I was forced to have the bearing edges redone to original specs by a trusted pro tech.

Just wanna say I'm back in hog heaven!
