I have to ask, Why is there a pipe clamp around the throw ?? and How are you gonna use it if that clamp locks it all up ??

The "pipe clamp" is simply a guard that covers the mechanism of the Renown strainer. It was short lived. I have several drums dated 1951-1953 and none of them sport this guard. This throw off, in my opinion, is actually superior in function to the Microsensitive in that it functions very well and isn't prone to breaking as the "tombstone" shaped microsensitive throw off is.

I see.... It simply moves side to side. Doesn't fall below the level of the top hoop...!
